Tim Larade’s fantastic web comic, One of Those Days,...:

Tim Larade’s fantastic web comic, One of Those Days, finished up last Friday. Peeps are doing fan art/comics so I decided to take a swing at Mallori. Congrats to Tim, who is a blow you away artist and a stand up gentleman! Hope he starts a new comic soon!

You can see all of Tim’s arts here.

IN THE WORKS

IN THE WORKS:

So one of my classes has a book project where we come up with long-form ideas based on a short story. This is an uncolored pencil rough from the children’s book I’m working on. And that’s a bear under the cloth. Talking to a frog. In a Louis XIV wig. Yes.

Someone was foolish enough to teach me how to make a gif.

I made these for my Dude for an anniversary. We both love Buck...:

I made these for my Dude for an anniversary. We both love Buck Hunter, an arcade game found in a dwindling number of bars. Using absurdly huge plastic shotguns, you compete to shoot the maximum amount (3) of bucks possible in a series of rounds, racking up points and humiliating the other person through sheer awesomeness of your sharpshooting skills.

Though I am not a fan of hunting in real life, Big Buck Hunter, and it’s amazing cousin, Big Buck Hunter Safari, are highly addictive. The draw of this game is hard to describe, you kind of have to play it to understand.

If you live in Halifax, there is a cabinet in Bubba Ray’s near the entrance to Hunt Club.

There is something deeply disturbing imagining the Sailor Cats...:

There is something deeply disturbing imagining the Sailor Cats are just people in spandex cat suits. Hawt.

Conceived at out of the cabin fever you get sitting behind a table all day at conventions.

Check out Noreen’s version here, it is awesome.

HE’D BE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A LOBOTOMY, BATMAN

HE’D BE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A LOBOTOMY, BATMAN:

Some background: last night was Drink N’ Draw in the 12th Street Alehouse.

The above quote was culled by Dan Strauss from an old Batman and Robin comic he read years ago. Joker’s been arrested (saying “Joker’s wild! hahahaha!”) and Batman gets in the Batmobile with Robin. Robin turns to him and matter-of-factly says the aforementioned about a lobotomy. Oh our country’s history.

The second quote of the evening’s Drink N’ Draw was from Adam Tyrrell : “I’ll always make an exception for Hickory Barbecue.”

Dan has regular drink n draw’s at Barcade in Jersey City every Tuesday evening. They’re a lot of fun – just hop onto the PATH train and you’re there.

Barbecue & Lobotomies and away we go:

One of the main parts of the drink n draw’s is making comics jams, which are the comics equivalent of an exquisite corpse (see above) – although you can see the previous panels.

there’s nothing that can’t be ended with an extreme close-up.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN:

This was part of a Photoshop experiment with two images – and funnily enough, the first one, the one I spent so much time on, just didn’t come out the way I wanted it to, and this second one, the one I played around with, turned out much better than I’d anticipated. It’s been a busy month and a busy weekend, and it even snowed, but it’s officially Halloween and that’s fantastic. Happy Halloween, guys!

PIG FACTORY

PIG FACTORY:

Our teacher gave us the assignment of a 5-panelled pig story, starting with the idea of “a pig walked into…” I liked the idea of a factory and then got a little happy with making a factory stencil out of blue tape.

Hey guys, sorry I’ve been away from the site for the past few weeks. Things have been a little hectic lately, but they should be calming down soon, and so I hope to return to posting things regularly. I’ve also had some very preliminary ideas for my next comic, but I’ll save that discussion for another blog post. Which will also let me go another week without having to draw something for this blog, ha.

But in the interest of disseminating my comic as far and wide across the internet as possible, I’m now offering a CBR file of Freedman for download for free. You’ll need a program that can read a CBR file, or you can just change the file extension from .cbr to .zip and unzip the files yourself. I’m offering these files under a Creative Commons license, which allows free distribution and derivative works as long as they’re also shared. Donations, however, would be greatly appreciated by both me and my stomach.

Some sketches of John Marston and the Strange Man for a Red Dead comic I’m working on.

Farts are always funny, why do you disapprove, horse?

GHOST DOG – A PHOTO STORY

GHOST DOG – A PHOTO STORY:

For the first assignment in one of my Illustration classes, we all had to make dog masks, then make a story featuring them. I went for a Hound of the Baskervilles – type ghostly black dog (different than the benevolent Ghost Dog) then shot a short story. Versequential and Sam Kulik were awesome and helped me out:

Happy Halloween, everyone!
