everyonesacentaur:When you think about it, in the end,...

everyonesacentaur:

When you think about it, in the end, Horace’s logic was far more sound than Henry’s. Horse-1, Human-0.
In some parallel universe, this comic is an animated, and the reconnect scene is much like Voltron being assembled. There is a sword for some reason.
I would like to take this moment and mention AJ, who writes the dialogue and does the initial paneling placement for the strip. This comic is definitely a group effort, and, as he is far less into the social media than I, doesn’t really get mentioned that often. By the Centaur Gods, he is a funny dude.

While I’m at it, I also decided to convert my other 20-page comic, Transit, into HD and make it available to download for free. I’m also working on ordering long-overdue business cards, and creating a short comic for MoCCAA soon. Feel free to enjoy my back catalog in the meantime.

Katniss fan art drawn in sketchgroup with some color thrown in. And hey, she can shoot magical arrows because who wants to draw a bow?
This is also colored with palette #2 from super fun palette challenge. I cheated and used straight up blue for the mocking jay, so I guess I fail the palette challenge. Oh well.

I had to make a Dr Sketchy’s poster this week so I used the opportunity to incorporate Super Fun Palette Challenge (which is probably just myself, but people are welcome to try it out as well and practice color!) into the header. Mermaids!

Super color surprise! Everyone’s a Centaur will be color from now on! It will still be published black and white, as nature intended, in The Coast. But I just can’t resist making people’s eyeballs scream.
Strip 1 & 2 are color-fied as well!

So I’ve been away for a while. Reenergizing, recreating, and just plain sleeping. But I haven’t disappeared, really! MoCCA is next month, and I should have a new short comic ready for MoCCA soon. And in celebration of the new HD iPad, enjoy my last comic, Freedman, in glorious HD resolution for the iPad, absolutely for free.

ALL THE POISONOUS

ALL THE POISONOUS:
A friend of ours (hey, K!) was going to Australia for school. Alexander and I were talking about all the poisonous animals one could find there. That got me thinking about making some sort of poisonous animal chart.
This will be truly useful in Australia.
Edit: thank you Tom Motley for pointing out the overlooked fellow on the bottom left. He now has a name.

Horse, you don’t even know what’s going down because because you so mythical.
As you can see Henry doesn’t get any pants, as human pants have never been invented. So magical loincloth it is.
I had a friend ask if centaurs ever wear pants. Rest assured they do, maybe if they’re, like, a farmer and need overalls, or are super classy. Otherwise, Centaur life is generally a little more carefree than that of human society.
Unless you’ve been exiled, then you’ve got problems.

Barcelona Sketchbook

Barcelona Sketchbook:

Last week, Alexander and I visited with friends in Barcelona. Oh that city with its sassy statues!

The page on the left is from a ridiculous visit to Museo del Mamut (Museum of the Mammoth). There was a recorded animal growl soundtrack! And a rhino skull with its jaw falling back into a really ecstatic smile. And mannequins in fur clothing! This probably isn’t representative since we also went to lots of fantastic museums, but I didn’t sketch them.

Currun and Rowan’s apartment. Heater set up across the kitchen door to keep the puppy out.

Breakfast, Melissa’s take on the giant Columbus statue, and lunch at a cafe.

Inside the Palau de la Musica Catalana, which is decorated like crazy inside. There’s also these busts of music giants facing each other across the proscenium (which we took to imply a long-standing gaze of longing).

Left: concertgoers in their seats. Right: Melissa.

We found a new nickname for Alexander.

Lots of people with colds. Breakfast at Cafe Sabor. Right: Mercat Boqueria had Barcelona lollipops.

Faces at Las Ramblas (long stretch of kiosks and shops). Right: an old woman collapsed in the street and people ran over to help.

Right: food from La Boqueria at Parc Guell with Casey, Xinwei, and Alexander.

Back home in NY, Union Square. Incredibly sunny. Kid with fantastic red hair on the bottom left.

Lunch hour at Union Square.

Everyone's a Centaur #1: Cen-torn

And that’s the first strip! So many questions left un-answered. What will become of Henry? Will that pudgy centaur ever get more beads? Why party so close to the train tracks?
There is more info about Everyone’s a Centaur in the About section, which will be updated with the strip.

The Halifax game Jam was a last weekend! This is the art I made...:

The Halifax game Jam was a last weekend! This is the art I made for my team’s game, Knight Clubbin’, a fantasy rpg set in a nightclub. All the characters bounce to the music as they fight each other with timed attacks (also to music wich is a blend of club and fantasy scores.) The player’s characater, Ravewyn Floorstrider, throws her head at enemies to defeat them. Both bosses, Pop Collar Dragon and Breakdancing Eye, have special attacks with flames and lasers. I did a background as well, into which mock up of the UI was inserted.
Our team was great to work with. We ended up with fantastic design, programming, and animation. And even though not everything made it in, and we didn’t finish, the project was fun and I’m really happy that I got to spend a weekend doing non-stop art.
Also thanks to Andrew Power for some really great character sketches and ideas!
