I think this pretty much sums up the most important part of each episode of Murder She Wrote. Put Jessica in a ridiculous situation in which she has to solve ridiculous murders ridiculously.
In the series pilot, she must go to a costume party for some reason and wear a fairy godmother dress, because….she can, I guess? It doesn’t get better than this.

Been super hyped for The Hobbit lately, so I drew myself a lady hobbit! Girl is striking out on her own and doin’ it for herself. Kind of looks like the dude version of a hobbit, but somehow that makes sense.

Magnum P Cat takes guff from no one! But in the end, Jessica proves his innocence and he finally finishes her novel. BFF and Ever!

This is the finished result of a collaboration between me and my awesome friend Miriam. She did this great drawing during one of our Saturdays and I asked if I could paint it. So voila! Miriam, this one’s for you
Thanks Noreen, for making my drawing look so awesome! This blows me away!
SKETCHES
From classes:
There are 14 women in my MFA year and 6 men. Sometimes, the guys like to sit all together during Writing Class, and that’s when they get drawn like this. Keith is goth-ing it up in the middle.
Us desperately hydrating ourselves.
Top: visit to Carl’s studio, bottom: writing class exercise imagining a conversation between a bear and a seagull; and Carl, who I hope doesn’t mind.
NOBODY LISTENS TO WORF POSTER
Now with more suckling!
So it’s now a fully colored, redrawn poster, and it’s also up on my Etsy store:
Poor guy. He’s severely understaffed, for one thing. I keep seeing the same 2 security officers show up whenever there’s an explosion, and one of them either dies or gets distracted by a butterfly.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
Months ago, I signed up to be part of Art House Co-op’s Sketchbook Project and promptly forgot about it. Not a great thing to do, but before we headed out to celebrate New Year’s Eve this year, I snagged it along for some sketching. It’s now filled with New Year’s shenanigans, with a few deviations:
this is the duck of 2012? I guess you can tell where the detours are.
dancing! that’s topical!
sorry, guys.
the most 2012 image of them all.
Have a good, healthy, safe 2012, guys. Thank you for being so lovely in 2011.
AND SO, SO FAR
Happy post-holidays, guys!
Since 2012 is coming up, I’ve been making New Year’s plans. I’m about 3/4 of the way through the Zoötrope animal book (which is why I accidentally ate a bit of blue pencil today). A friend and I are excited to start a new comics blog about Uncanny Eating experiences. And there will be more Terka – a new comic called Terka Takes a Walk and some other material that I’m looking forward to playing around with.
Other than that, there’s a few other projects that need some sorting out in my head, but one of the advantages of being a full time art student is that now, I spend the bulk of my day drawing. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to Finally Have Time. Theoretically.
And Alexander Rothman, Peter Quach, Miriam Gibson, and Blujay and I will be at MOCCA in April.
Hope you guys are having restful week.
